U13 Division 1 Semi Finals Rouse Hill Rams vs Kellyville Kolts

The U13 Division 1 clash between Rouse Hill Rams and Kellyville Kolts took a while to find its rhythm, with the opening stages regularly moving from one end of the field to the other. Both sides had attacking opportunities throughout the first half, with Rams perhaps enjoying slightly more of the ball while Kolts looked particularly dangerous when they could transition quickly onto the counter.

Rams responded by resetting into their structure and continued working their way back into attacking areas, while their defence was being asked to deal with an increasingly dangerous Kolts attack at the other end.

The Rams goalkeeper played a big part in keeping the margin at one. A Kolts one-on-one breakaway was kept out before another opportunity arrived with virtually the final play of the half, requiring a great save to push the ball over the crossbar.

Those moments proved important. Kolts were beginning to build momentum, but Rams reached the break still only one goal behind and very much in the contest.

The same back-and-forth pattern returned after half time, with neither side able to completely dictate the game. Play was interrupted for a period when a Rams player suffered a dislocated knee, temporarily bringing the contest to a halt before the match could continue. Hopefully she’s doing well and has a smooth recovery ahead.

Once play resumed, Rams began to build some sustained pressure of their own.

A corner wasn’t cleared by the Kolts defence and the Rams were able to take advantage of the loose ball, poking it through to finally find the equaliser and bring the game back to 1–1.

That goal changed more than just the scoreboard.

Suddenly the supporters around the ground found their voices. Every attack, near miss and dangerous ball was met with a chorus of cheers and nervous reactions from both sets of supporters as the game moved into its closing stages.

Rams maintained the pressure and continued searching for another opportunity. With only a couple of minutes remaining, they finally found it.

The go-ahead goal sent the Rams supporters into celebration and completed the turnaround from 1–0 down to 2–1 ahead.

There was no way back for Kolts in the remaining minutes, leaving Rams with a hard-fought 2–1 victory after a game where some of the most important moments came long before the winning goal. The first-half saves kept Rams within reach, the equaliser brought the crowd to life, and the late winner completed the comeback.

Games that build like this are always rewarding to capture. The reactions around the ground changed completely as the match unfolded, from the tension of those first-half saves to the noise and emotion surrounding a late winner.
