Castle Hill enjoyed the better of the early territory, spending long periods working the ball around the Rams’ attacking third and asking plenty of questions of the home defence. The Rams were limited to a handful of corners during the opening stages, but remained patient, staying organised and waiting for their opportunities to attack.

The breakthrough came after another promising move down the left wing. A dangerous cross into the penalty area caused problems for the Castle Hill defence before finding its way into the back of the net, giving the Rams a valuable first-half lead. The remainder of the half continued at a lively pace, with the Rams creating several more attacking raids while Castle Hill looked dangerous on the counterattack, but neither side could add to the score before the break.

The Rams wasted little time after half time extending their advantage. A well-worked passing move through midfield created the opening, and after a strong challenge left the ball loose in front of goal, a Rams attacker reacted quickest to finish and make it 2–0.

Castle Hill refused to let the contest drift away. A spectacular long-range strike from midfield caught everyone by surprise, sailing over the Rams goalkeeper to reduce the margin and immediately breathe new life into the game. It was one of those moments that stopped everyone on the sidelines and created another memorable image from the afternoon.

The response from the Rams was immediate and showcased the quality of their transition football. Starting with the goalkeeper, the move quickly worked its way through midfield before a perfectly weighted through ball released the forward, who calmly finished to restore the two-goal advantage at 3–1.

Castle Hill continued to push forward during the closing stages, but the Rams’ defensive structure proved difficult to break down. Their back four remained organised throughout the afternoon, consistently forcing Castle Hill away from dangerous central areas before calmly working the ball back out of defence. It was a disciplined performance that often goes unnoticed on the scoresheet but played a huge role in securing the result.

The final whistle confirmed a deserved 3–1 victory for the Rams after a match that combined attacking quality, disciplined defending and some outstanding passages of football from both sides. From the movement through midfield to the decisive defensive interventions, there was no shortage of memorable moments to capture throughout the afternoon.
